Hogwarts Legacy Ruined J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter Legacy in an ‘Unforgivable’ Way That Sequel Must Address

Hogwarts Legacy is one of the most popular titles in the world right now. Released in 2023, this game has garnered a huge fanbase and was one of the prime names for the Game of the Year award. Despite being set in the universe of Hogwarts, we didn’t see any heroics of Harry Potter as it plots a century prior to stories of Potter.

You have to fill the shoes of a student who will embark on his mystic journey in the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Now, this game has become so successful that fans started shouting for a sequel. And as a consequence, there are several rumors circling the community that a sequel is in the works. However, there is a serious issue in the game that Avalanche Software must look after for the successor.

Avalanche Needs to Address A Major Concern in Hogwarts Legacy for Its Sequel

Hogwarts Legacy sold over 12 million copies in just two weeks of its launch, as it was that good. However, there is a serious aspect that needs to be looked after, which shouldn’t be in the upcoming sequel. And this is the Unforgivable Curse: Avada Kedavra, Crucio, and Imperio.

These curses are the most evil parts of the game as well as the Harry Potter history. In the original movie series and the book, the caster of this spell has to have actual malice in their hearts to make them come out right. Not only that, the user of this will get a life sentence in Azkaban if it is used on a fellow human.

However, Hogwarts Legacy doesn’t seem to be following the original lore, as there is no consequence of casting Crucio as many times as you want. This diversion from the original story is a huge setback for the Harry Potter fans, and Avalanche needs to fix this asap in the upcoming sequel.

Other Issues in Hogwarts Legacy

First up are the Merlin Trials. Despite the main storyline being so good and captivating, this trial is pointless and an utter waste of time. This trial basically takes your time to fill up your gear slots with unnecessary items and some below-par rewards like clothing items.

The center of attraction in the game is the Hogwarts School itself. However, it’s not interactive or enchanting at all, like we have seen in the Harry Potter movie series. You can literally bunk the classes and loiter outside and even journey even further from it, and the surprising fact is that there would be no consequences either.

Fans will be rooting for Hogwarts Legacy 2 to be an even bigger success than its predecessor. Casting Unforgivable Curses without any consequences not only drifts the game away from the main story but also makes the character a magical serial killer, which is quite unlikely with Hogwarts’ essence of friendship and positivity.
