How to Get the Pick-Me-Up Recipe
As with all other Bethesda titles, Starfield allows the player to engage in copious amounts of resource gathering and crafting. From Skyrim’s potion-making to Fallout’s weapon modification, crafting has been an essential mechanic in many games from the studio, but players do need to meet some characters before they can start making their favorite consumables.
Aside from having the raw materials on hand to craft their desired item, many objects also need the player to have the appropriate blueprint, plans, or recipe. Finding these in the world can be a bit difficult, but many items, like Starfield’s Pick-Me-Up, are well worth the time and effort!
What is the Pick-Me-Up in Starfield?
Exploring the world in Bethesda’s games always requires a certain degree of self-restraint. This is because the player will constantly come across new loot that the hoarder inside them will want to take everything! Sadly, how much you can carry has always been limited by your physical carry capacity, but there are workarounds for this in Starfield.
The first, while the most straightforward, might not be an approach everyone wants to take. It involves investing points to rank up the Weight Training skill, which increases your overall carry capacity by up to 220 pounds at the final rank. However, some players may want to invest their early-game Starfield skills in other areas such as Ballistics or Stealth, and having to divide those points might not make for an ideal experience.
Thankfully, with Starfield being set so far in the future, medical advancements have made it possible for humans to push past their natural limits with artificial enhancers. The Pick-Me-Up is one such consumable, and it enables the player to increase their carry capacity temporarily. This can come in clutch in a variety of scenarios, as staying within your carrying capacity is a key requirement to fast travel in Starfield.
Taking this Trade Authority-licensed chem will increase your carry capacity by 50 for 15 minutes. This item can also be found in the open world and purchased from vendors, but having the ability to craft it would be ideal. However, before you decide to make this item, you need to first find its recipe.
How to Get the Pick-Me-Up Recipe in Starfield?
Getting the recipe for this chem requires you to start the United Colonies questline and take on the Delivering Devils quest. It’s part of the United Colonies Vanguard side missions and could have galaxy-ending consequences. To start this quest, you will need to reach Cydonia on Mars and speak with Oktai Enbayar at the local Trade Authority.
He will inform you that a former researcher, Percival, is missing and tell you to visit the Sixth Circle bar to learn more. Here, first speak with the bartender and then interact with Cambridge Cooper, who can be found by a wall near the round table. Cooper will tell you about the debt Percival owes, and clearing this amount is essential to completing the mission.
You can do this in one of three ways: paying off the debt, changing the debt amount, or accepting Cooper’s task. The first one is simple enough if you’ve been following our early Credit-earning methods. The second will require you to Pickpocket a key or Lockpick the security door and change the amount on the computer with an Account Override Tool.
The third requires the player to kill the Space Leader in the Deep Mines. This might be the most lengthy choice, but this is the method you want to take to get the Pick-Me-UP recipe! You’ll also earn some extra Credits and XP along the way, so it’s a net positive. You can visit the mine even without the quest active, but this is a two-birds-one-stone kind of situation.
Get to the mine and work your way through the hostile miners until you arrive at Cooper and Percival’s old lab. Cooper will instruct you to collect a sample of Hematite to run through the Thresher.
Follow the mission instructions until you once again contact Cooper and head back to Cydonia. After speaking with Cooper on your return, you should have learned the Starfield Pick-Me-Up recipe. Make sure you picked up some extra Aqueous Hematite from the mine, as that’s a key ingredient in the recipe.
Now, you can hoard to your heart’s content, and then just pop a Pick-Me-Up to head back to your ship and unload! Which consumables have you found to be the most useful? Let us know in the comments below and check out our other Starfield guides to better navigate the galaxies.
