Seminole Hard Rock Casino Tampa evacuated twice after ‘concealed’ devices found, police say

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The Seminole Hard Rock Casino Tampa was evacuated twice in about a 12-hour period after “concealed” devices were found in the casino, according to the Seminole Police Department.

A “crude concealed device with fireworks components” was found in a men’s bathroom just before midnight Sunday night, police said. Part of the casino was evacuated.

Police said the device was deactivated and the casino reopened at about 3 a.m. Monday.

A second device was found in a men’s room in the Mezzanine area at about noon on Monday, causing another evacuation, according to police. The second device was deactivated and the casino has since reopened.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office assisted.

Police continue to review surveillance video, and the investigation is ongoing.
