Car falls off El Paso’s Transmountain Road. Woman dies in Red Sands ATV crash

An El Paso police mountain rescue team was sent to assist in a “high angle rescue” after a vehicle fell off the side of a mountain in a crash near the summit of Transmountain Road, police said.

The eastbound lanes of Transmountain Road were closed because of the single-vehicle accident on the West Side of the mountain until about 8:45 a.m. Monday, Sept. 30, when they were reopened, the Texas Department of Transportation said via the X platform. The westbound lanes of Transmountain Road remained open.

Woman dies from injuries in Red Sands ATV crash

A 24-year-old woman has died following an all-terrain vehicle rollover crash late Sunday night in the Red Sands desert area off Montana Avenue, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office said Monday.

Dianelys Crespo Gonzalez died from the injuries she sustained in the ATV crash, sheriff’s officials said.

Deputies were dispatched regarding the single-vehicle accident soon after 10:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, in the desert off-roading area in eastern El Paso County, officials said.

The investigation into the crash continues with assistance from sheriff’s special traffic investigators. No further details were released.
