ClearVue to add solar smarts to dynamic Perth building
ClearVue Technologies has secured the first order for its energy-efficient solar cladding that will now be included in the dynamic Enex100 building on St George’s Terrace in the business heart of Perth in Western Australia.
The order for more than 200 of its architectural black photovoltaic (PV) modules for the construction of an equipment screen at Enex100, which is part of a wider $40 million refurbishment of the Enex precinct owned by Australian property fund manager, ISPT.
ClearVue says it marks a pivotal milestone for the smart building materials company as it pushes forward with its new commercial strategy of offering a complete solar product suite for the construction industry.
Management says its pure black PV glass feature wall was chosen due to its unique design elements that deliver energy-generation capabilities combined with high non-combustibility ratings, simple maintenance and compliance with applicable building standards. The project is expected to be completed by mid-next year and is the first of more than 50 project engagements to have transformed into a sale.
Management believes the sale confirms its new commercial strategy and shows the value the market is starting to place on energy-efficient smart building solutions. It says the solar cladding has a unique framing system that simplifies installation and maintenance, making it ideal for both new construction and retrofit projects and enabling architects and developers to meet the stringent standards of modern building codes.
The cladding is expected to lower operational carbon emissions and operating costs at the Enex100 office tower. ISPT says those factors are crucial as the building sector – which is responsible for about 18 per cent of direct carbon emissions – faces increasing pressure to meet regulatory and consumer demands for sustainability.

ISPT is a major Australian industry superannuation fund, with a property portfolio amassing some $20 billion in value.
The company is known for its focus on sustainability and has been carbon neutral since 2020. It aims to become carbon positive by next year making the Enex project a key component of its ongoing environmental, social and governance (ESG) efforts.
ClearVue released a new range of BIPV products just a few months back, enabling it to offer a solution for vision and non-vision areas of any building. It allows for the complete external envelope of a building facade to be converted into a power-generating area.
The new spandrels and cladding do not contain the company’s proprietary technology from its original solar PV integrate glazing units (IGUs).
The IGUs are windows that essentially act like solar panels. The solar windows stay transparent, yet can generate electricity by using the power of the sun to make a building more energy-efficient.
An IGU is a clear, double-glazed glass panel with a laminated plastic interlayer that sits between the two glass panels. The laminated proprietary technology interlayer contains nano and microparticles allowing light to pass through, while diverting energy to thin solar strips.
ClearVue’s breakthrough order for the Enex100 building signals a significant milestone for the company as it looks to convert on its growing sales pipeline.
ISPT has promised a “one-of-a-kind CBD experience” at what it has dubbed Perth’s “first urban commercial village” at the Enex precinct, which will include futuristic headquarters for WA mining giant South32. And successful installation for ClearVue’s product in a prime Perth CBD location could be a precursor for many more sales to come.
