PlayStation Network is down for some players

PlayStation Network is down for some players, as the service experiences “issues”.

According to many users on social media, and also confirmed by VGC, the network isn’t currently operating properly for some.

Until the situation is remedied, affected users are left unable to play games online, access the PlayStation Store, or verify the licenses for digital games, thus rendering them unplayable in some circumstances.

While players with one PlayStation 5 that have recently connected to the network and verified their licenses should not run into issues, those with multiple consoles or are logged into multiple machines may find that their games are not playable.

According to the Network Service Status page on the PlayStation website, account management, gaming and social services, PlayStation Video, and the PlayStation Store are all compromised by the issues.

PlayStation Direct, which also uses a PlayStation Network login, is not affected, according to Sony.

The issues are believed to have started around midnight UK time on October 1, with Sony acknowledging the issues just after 2 AM. There is currently no timeline for when the problem will be resolved, and Sony has yet to comment publically on the outage, outside of the network’s status page.

VGC has reached out to PlayStation for a comment and will update this story should we receive one.
