The Last of Us Fans Are Panicking After the Recent Development in Scotland’s Rain Forest

The sun rises in a different world today after the discovery of a rare fungus, similar to the Cordyceps fungus that inspired The Last of Us franchise, has come alive. The recent development has taken form in Scotland’s rainforest, and it seems to be infecting spiders at the moment.

Fans of the post-apocalyptic games, including Fallout, The Last of Us, and Metro Last Light, are well aware of the consequences of the fungus evolving into a brain-eating monster that turns people into zombies before devastating them once and for all.

Zombie Fungus Found Infecting Spiders In Scotland

A rare Cordyceps-like fungus has been discovered in Scotland’s rain forest, which is turning out to be an alarming signal for what might lie ahead in the future. However, the fungus is no way near evolved into a human brain-eating monster, but there is still very little we know about it to make any claims on how long it will take for the fungus to evolve.

Video game games, especially for fans of the games set in a post-apocalyptic world, crave dramatic situations like these more than anyone else. However, their inhibitions about the zombie fungus might not materialize in as dramatic a way as they have experienced during playing games like The Last of Us, Fallout, and Metro Last Light, among others.

The recent Zombie fungus found in Scotland’s temperate rain forest called Gibellulla has only been seen infecting spiders at the moment. The fungus makes them behave like zombies by taking over the spider’s body through spores, eventually spreading to the insides and completely taking over the host.

Upon death, the fungus enables the spider to attach to the underside of leaves, which is an excellent tactic to spread the fungus spores more effectively.

The Last of Us Fans Have Been Prepared For A While Now

The Last of Us fans are too well versed with what affects a zombie outbreak might have on the world, and they have mentally prepared themselves for the same. However, we will not be seeing a zombie outbreak anytime soon since the fungus does not pose any threat to humans in any way.

The fungus is too early in its evolutionary cycle to be affecting humans and we know that for a fact. A human brain is much more complex than that of a spider. Spiders are simple creatures, which makes them the prime suspect for becoming zombies since they can be controlled fairly easily.

The same goes for many other small brains and insects who might be getting affected by this fungus in the deepest parts of the jungle, away from the human eye.
