Why the Schofield Revolver From Red Dead Redemption 2 Is One of the Best Weapons In Any Rockstar Game

Red Dead Redemption 2 is arguably the biggest and most detailed game of the past decade. From how NPCs react and behave to the realistic environment, wildlife, and gunplay, it is the perfect open-world video game. Taking on the role of an outlaw when their era is nearly over, Arthur Morgan is the best leader any gang could ask for.

Armed with older weaponry, like revolvers and rifles, anything is deadly in Arthur’s hands. The designers studied each weapon in great detail and how it would act realistically, and the results were extremely satisfying and worth it.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is renowned for being realistic and detailed to a great extent that most other studios wouldn’t bother to try. Previous games made by the same developer were praised for pushing the boundaries and this instalment is no different, especially regarding the gunplay.

Initially, most players were taken aback since they were not accustomed to the weaponry and firearms available at the time: mostly single-action rifles, revolvers, and shotguns.

It was a learning curve, but the gaming community figured out the right way to use these weapons and make the most of them.

The Schofield Revolver is hands down among the best revolvers in the game, the range paired with the handling and accuracy is perfect for headshots from a distance and for close quarters. Hitting body shots on a target can be deadly; however, headshots and other fatal areas can do the trick just fine with the Schofield.

The period of the game has done wonders for it. Game developers can provide a close and accurate depiction of how everyday life used to be in 1899 with a touch of nonsensical video game norms. Every time Arthur pulls out any of his single-action weapons and cocks it or pulls the hammer feels real and satisfying.

The game developers of Rockstar Games have outdone themselves with this installment and encourage players to avoid spamming the right triggers of their controllers and to time their shots instead.

The Schofield Revolver Is Perfect for Any Occasion

Other weapons from different franchises like Grand Theft Auto are more modernized which could appeal to a larger player base.

Players are armed with rapid-fire guns like automatic rifles, submachine guns, and more that can be modified with attachments. Players can riddle anything or anyone standing in their way with bullets which can get the job done; however, it lacks the satisfying feeling of the Schofield. We may even end up overhyping GTA 6 for ourselves in this case.

The Special Carbine Rifle in GTA 5 is another satisfying weapon from Rockstar Games. The weight and gunplay mechanics feel satisfying after firing each round and the stats for accuracy are passable.

Using this weapon with Michael’s special ability to slow down time, headshots are more than guaranteed; however, Arthur’s dead eye ability is a cut above the rest since he can manually mark enemies with each shot.

The Schofield revolver may not seem like the best choice, especially when there are other bigger and longer weapons available; however, Arthur will always need to quickly draw something for self-defense in the middle of a fix like when he is being robbed on the road by rival gangs or local troublemakers, and taking a shotgun or a rifle from his shoulder could cost him his life like in real-life.

The revolver is much faster to access on a thigh holster and easily concealed. It’s a small weapon that can pack a punch from both a distance and close range. In the hands of Arthur, anything is the ultimate killing machine.

Rockstar Games went above and beyond with this project and will likely carry over the realistic gun mechanics to the next major instalment: GTA 6. Is the Schofield Revolver your favorite handgun in Red Dead Redemption 2? Let us know in the comments section below!
