The Most Underrated Far Cry Game Getting a ‘Glow Up’ is All the Hope We Need for Far Cry 7 to Work

The Far Cry franchise has become a staple in the world of first-person shooting titles. Since 2004, this long-reigning series has been releasing titles, DLCs, and spinoffs consistently, the latest being Far Cry 6 in 2021. Now, the worthy successor of this franchise, Far Cry 7, is on the cards as well.

Despite there being no official update from Ubisoft regarding the game, everyday rumors have kept the excitement alive. Amidst all the hype regarding the upcoming game, there is one game from this franchise that has never gotten the love it always deserved. Thanks to a modder, it finally is getting an overhaul.

A New Mod List Rejuvenates Far Cry Primal

Far Cry Primal is arguably the most underrated game of this series. Released in 2016, this game offered some out-of-the-box gameplay rather than the other titles in the franchise. This game is set in prehistoric times and showcases the story of Takkar, who embarks upon his journey to become the leader of a tribe.

Unlike other Far Cry games, Primal features prehistoric primitive weapons like spears, clubs, bows, and arrows instead of modern-age weapons like guns and explosives. However, Takkar has a special ability to tame wild animals, which helps him in battles by summoning them.

The game gathered positive reviews from critics but never became as hugely successful in the market as its other franchise counterparts. There were many claims from the fans for a remaster of Far Cry Primal by Ubisoft. But it kept itself busy prolonging the Far Cry series.

However, modder and YouTuber Digital Dreams has our back because they have come up with brilliant mods for this heavily underrated title. The mod list literally turns the eight-year-old game into a new-gen delight.

As a result, the modded game features complete ray tracing, sharp textures, detailed visuals, and high-quality shadows, all of which keep a stable framerate of over 80 frames per second.

Ubisoft Has Recently Teased Far Cry 7

As of now, Ubisoft has remained tight-lipped about its upcoming Far Cry title. There are rumors spreading all over the internet that Far Cry 7 is in the active development stage, but the company hasn’t shared a whisper.

However, there is a job listing by Ubisoft, which might well serve as a teaser for the upcoming game. Recently, Ubisoft has started hiring for a post of a 3D Programming Teach Lead to work on not just Far Cry but the “next generation” of Far Cry games. This is what the job listing reads:

As a 3D Programmer Team Lead, you will be responsible for leading a team of skilled 3D programmers in the development of the next generation of the Far Cry branded games. You will split your time between team management and project management.

Now it’s pretty much uncertain if this position is for the immediate next entry in the series or if the company is looking for a tech lead for its future endeavors in the Far Cry franchise. Far Cry New Dawn and Far Cry 6 never took the legacy to the height that Far Cry 5 did.

So there are high chance that the company is working very seriously on Far Cry 7. Now, only time will tell the truth about what lies ahead of us.
