Tingle Creator Has An Idea About Who Should Play Him In Live-Action Zelda Movie
It’s unknown whether anyone really wants to see a live-action Tingle in The Legend of Zelda movie, since he’s such an oddball. But the creator behind the green spandex-wearing character–Takaya Imamura–has a certain someone in mind for the role.
Speaking with VGC through a translator, the former Nintendo artist brought up Tingle appearing in the Zelda movie after being asked about the character showing up in the game franchise. “Actually, one more thing to add to that: The Zelda movie has been announced, so I’m really curious as to whether Tingle is going to be in that or not,” said Imamura, who also worked on Star Fox and F-Zero. “From my perspective, I would really love him to appear.”
Imamura then stated that he’d like Masi Oka to portray Tingle in the film. The artist mentioned the actor’s previous work on NBC’s Heroes, though Oka is also known for Hawaii Five-O, Bullet Train, and The Meg. On top of that, Oka is the founder of Mobius Digital, the developer behind critically acclaimed Outer Wilds.
Earlier this month, Haley Joel Osment threw his hat “in the ring” to play Link in The Legend of Zelda movie. Meanwhile, Euphoria’s Hunter Schafer thinks it “would be so cool” to portray Zelda in response to fans wishcasting her for the part.
The Legend of Zelda movie was announced in November, with Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes filmmaker Wes Ball attached to direct the live-action project.
