HeroQuest First Light Board Game Revealed, Preorders Discounted
HeroQuest is an iconic board game that’s been around since 1989, offering an experience like Dungeons & Dragons that’s a bit easier for newcomers to enjoy. The series recently revealed a new addition to its catalog, HeroQuest: First Light, that’s arriving on January 12, 2025. Preorders are now open–and if you’re a Target Circle member, you can save $10 on your order until October 12. Joining Target Circle is free, making this a good time to sign up.

HeroQuest: First Light is bundled with everything you need to start playing. It’s built for both newcomers and longtime fans, featuring 10 quests and a rulebook to help you learn all its intricacies. You’ll play as either the game master (Zargon) or a hero who’s tasked with taking down Zargon’s army.
Included in the set is a detailed dragon miniature and four hero miniatures, plus a double-sided gameboard that changes as you play (thanks to over 100 game cards and 67 standees). While the game comes with 10 prebuilt quests, the game master is completely free to build their own–making First Light a highly replayable adventure.
If you’re a HeroQuest veteran, you’ll be glad to know this upcoming release is fully compatible with all existing HeroQuest expansions. There’s also a companion app that can serve as your game master, so all your buddies can team up to take down Zargon. The app can even be used to enjoy solo quests.
Preorders are set at $50, but Target Circle members can save $10 on their preorder through October 12. HeroQuest: First Light falls into the “toy” category, and Target is currently offering $10 off purchases over $40 and $20 off purchases over $75. If you’re interested in the game, we’d recommend preordering before the event wraps up later this week. Consider bundling it with one of the below board games to qualify for a better discount.
