How to Beat Lichdragon Fortissax

This is a quick guide on how to beat Lichdragon Fortissax. The Lichdragon Fortissax is an optional boss that can be quite intimidating but it is not all that hard to defeat. The game developers channeled all their creativity to design this menacing dragon and offer the player base a chance to apply their skills.

While physical appearances can be deceiving, other powerful dragons and optional bosses are much tougher to face than the Lichdragon Fortissax; however, this does not mean players should overestimate their chances. Players should have a strategy or plan of attack before heading into the arena.

Where Can You Find Lichdragon Fortissax?

The Lichdragon Fortissax is all bark and no bite for seasoned Elden Ring players.

Elden Ring players will have a fun time finding this optional boss. The Lichdragon Fortissax is hidden in the Deeproot Depths. As soon as the Tarnished arrives at the Deeproot Depths, they can see a Site of Grace by the west side with a waterfall to continue west. Players will come across a wooden platform connected by a giant tree root with a bonfire.

Players must carefully descend hopping from one ledge to another. The optional boss is well-hidden and requires great effort to find and an even greater effort to fight.

How to Prepare to Fight Lichdragon Fortissax?

The Lichdragon Fortissax is not as scary as it looks if players are equipped with the right gear.

This optional boss has a handful of attacks and it is worth noting that none of these can instantly kill the Tarnished with one sweep; however, this is not an open invitation to take damage. Elden Ring players are familiar with the common survival and self-preservation strategies present in previous Soulslike games which involve rolling away from danger.

Tip

Players can summon a few Spirit Ashes or a Mimic Tear to distract Lichdragon Fortissax and buy enough time to replenish their health.

Players should equip the Bloodhound’s Step to gain a better distance with each roll which can be acquired after defeating Bloodhound Knight Darriwil. The arena is quite wide and players can run around to attack from a strategic position and have enough room to fight. FromSoftware designed Elden Ring to offer the players more options to fight specific enemies on their terms. The Bloodhound’s Step is handy against Commander Gaius in the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion.

How to Cheese Lichdragon Fortissax? Players should summon a Mimic Tear and equip Rotten Breath to inflict Scarlet Rot. This method can take a while but it is efficient.
Rewards Remembrance of the Lichdragon, 90000 Runes
Worth the Trouble? Yes

Elden Ring players can fight this massive dragon from a safe distance and shoot arrows or magic attacks. This method is much riskier and players can sustain area-of-effect damage from lightning-based attacks but can deal damage by aiming for the head.

The Rotten Breath approach can be applied to Lichdragon Fortissax; however, players should be constantly on the move. After entering the arena, players should immediately summon a Mimic Tear to double the effects of Scarlet Rot.

Fortunately, most incoming melee and lightning attacks are non-lethal and players can heal in between using Rotten Breath. Players should position themselves on the back side or underneath the dragon to use more Rotten Breath.

The Lichdragon Fortissax will drop 90000 Runes and the Remembrance of the Lichdragon. Range and the Rotten Breath approach can work like a charm with enough patience.
