Todd Howard Focusing on 1 Bethesda Game’s Success is Bad News for Elder Scrolls 7
Todd Howard has shifted his focus towards one Bethesda game that rose to fame this year. This game managed to go beyond the realms of just the gaming medium. This contributed largely to its successful run.
Now, Bethesda has confirmed that it will be focusing on bringing more games from this one franchise while the future of its other games lie in the dark
The Wind Blows In Favour of This One Bethesda Game
What is next for Bethesda, following the success of Fallout, which became a cultural phenomenon after the success of Prime’s adaptation of the game? Everybody is talking about Fallout at the moment, and it seems like Bethesda has sidelined all of its other IPs.
Todd Howard has confirmed that the studio will be working on more Fallout games. There has still been no update about the upcoming Elder Scrolls VI. It is true that it takes at least 5 years for a game to be fully complete; however, it has been more than 6 years since we last got any update about Elder Scrolls VI.
Fallout’s TV series played a huge role in its rising popularity since the story was now universal and could be consumed by a large number of people rather than just gamers. Appreciating the same, the interviewer praised Todd Howard’s efforts.
Having an event that brings that many people into games that you have and who have never played your games before, that’s a big thing. New players who have never played a game or never played one of our games. It’s a really, really unique moment.
It truly is a unique moment; seeing a game do so well in the market that it becomes a cultural phenomenon is a great thing to witness for any developer. However, overlooking other IPs to focus on what people want might not be the best way to go about things.
The Future of Elder Scrolls VII Looks Uncertain
If things go the way they are currently and we do not see the next Elder Scrolls game soon, it might affect the following games drastically, especially Elder Scrolls VII.
It is understandable that Howard would want to focus on Fallout at the moment since the game is getting a lot of traction at the moment. However, Bethesda has limited resources, and focusing on one game means that the others would not be given the same amount of attention.
Unless Bethesda drastically expands its team it will be difficult to see other IPs seeing the light of day. There is a chance that Elder Scrolls VI will be pushed as far ahead as 2040. What do you think about it? Let us know in the comments below.
