Karratha sporting talent highlighted at community sports awards
Gemma Rodgers was crowned Santos Sportsperson of the Year at the 2024 City of Karratha Community Sports Awards.
The top coaches, volunteers and sporting stars in Karratha were recognised for their hard work and dedication across nine award categories.
Rodgers won the top award for her achievements in BMX.
Meanwhile, Yani Davis was named Woodside Energy Junior Sportsman of the Year and Lacy Robinson was the Rio Tinto Junior Sportswoman of the Year.
City of Karratha mayor Daniel Scott said local sporting groups enhanced and improved the region’s liveability.
“The sporting groups across Dampier, Karratha, Roebourne and Wickham are flourishing thanks to the talent they nurture,” he said.
“Each club contributes to the community by promoting fitness and well-being while fostering connections among residents.
“Congratulations to all the winners and nominees of this year’s awards, and I appreciate everyone who nominated players and supported the event.”
The gala event was held on October 25 at the Red Earth Arts Precinct.
