MGS Delta: Snake Eater won’t feel “old and clunky”
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is supposedly heading our way this year, which means a lot of discussions around how the game will play are well-underway. One thing its producer is sure of, though, is it will feel familiar but not old.
Speaking to Play (via GamesRadar), producer Noriaki Okamura assures fans that it won’t play like a 20-year-old game. Granted, it probably can, considering the old control scheme alongside filters will be available. The biggest goal here with the remake is to make it feel like the game you played before but also not like it’s too old.
“Our whole goal when we’re making this remake is to make sure that it still feels like the game that you played 20 years ago, but without making it feel like an old game.”
At the start, it was just going to be touching up the graphics, but Okamura realized some stuff, like its controls, didn’t mesh with the new, flashy graphics. Mostly the control scheme, so a new one was put in place and hopefully it won’t feel out of wack compared to hopping off of a more modern game.
“We didn’t want to make any unnecessary changes that would take people out of that experience. But at the same time, we need to make sure that when people play the game, it doesn’t feel old, like they’re playing an old game. [We’re] making sure that when you play this game, that it’s still on par with some of the more modern games in terms of controls and without taking you out of the experience.”
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater doesn’t have an official release date, but it’s supposedly coming out as soon as this month to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
