Nearly all interactive specials are getting pulled from Netflix

Netflix is dashing a huge number of its interactive specials ranging from those partnered with another IP and those wholly original with only four remaining by the end of the year. The interactive specials were the streamer’s earliest attempts to enter the interactive space back in 2017.

The Verge reports of the 24 current interactive specials, only four will remain on the platform likely into next year. We wouldn’t be too surprised, though, if the remaining four are pulled after a couple more months.

  • Black Mirror: Bandersnatch
  • Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy vs. the Reverend
  • Ranveer vs. Wild with Bear Grylls
  • You vs. Wild

Spokesperson Chrissy Kelleher explained that the tech did what it was supposed to but is limiting Netflix and it needs to focus into other areas.

“The technology served its purpose, but is now limiting as we focus on technological efforts in other areas.”

This delisting is yet another instance of Netflix failing to find footing within the gaming sphere. Earlier in the year, it was revealed that the streamer had shuttered its AAA game development studio, the one helmed by Overwatch exec, Chacko Sonny. Other vets like Joseph Staten and Raf Grassetti also joined the studio before its unfortunate closure.

The 20 specials will get pulled after December 1.
