Game Pass brought “on the fence” gamers to Call of Duty: Black Ops 6

Game Pass itself is a huge gamble for Microsoft, while it’s great for the gamer, it can have negative effects on game sales, as its more popular plans have first-party fare heading to the platform day-and-date of release. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, which was obviously heading to the service, on the other hand, proved that to not be the case overall, despite worries it would.

In its latest financial report (via IGN), Microsoft confirmed that sales on third-party platforms were actually 60% higher than 2023’s Modern Warfare 3. Meanwhile speaking with BBC, Treyarch’s associate creative director, Miles Leslie, asserted that its inclusion on Game Pass helped players who were “on the fence” about picking up the latest entry to the long-running FPS franchise.

“What we’ve seen is it’s allowed people that might have been on the fence, might have had some of that friction, might have been like, ‘I haven’t played in a while’ to actually come back and try the game.”

Now, though, the biggest thing is whether players will stick around for the long-haul or dip as soon as Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is done and dusted.

Smash Jump’s Adrian Cozmuta said this in our review: “Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is a return to form for the franchise and deserves a spot among the best Call of Duty titles. BO6 is a complete top-to-bottom Call of Duty package, featuring an explosive campaign, a fun and frantic multiplayer and Zombies mode, the most dynamic gunplay and movement yet, and an all-around outstanding presentation.”
