ADCA 2024-25: Railways star and Albany and Districts captain Coen Marwick faces nervous wait with wrist injury

Railways star and Albany and Districts captain Coen Marwick’s season is in jeopardy as he faces a nervous wait after scans revealed the talented all-rounder may require surgery on his injured wrist.

Marwick has scored 208 runs at an average of 52 across all competitions this season and taken nine wickets at 28.22 with best bowling figures of 4-28.

He scored 80 not out from just 54 balls for the Whalers in their opening Belt-Up Country Cup clash against Peel and belted 71 from just 62 balls in the Tigers’ opening Albany and Districts Cricket Association A-grade match of the season.

Scans revealed Marwick has a broken scaphoid, a fractured lunate and a ruptured scaphoid-lunate ligament which he sustained while playing football for Kukerin-Dumbleyung in this year’s Upper Great Southern Football League competition.

He has played with a splint on his wrist in the Tigers’ past two fixtures and batted at No.11 rather than his usual No.3 spot but has still been able to contribute to the team with the ball.

Marwick is currently seeking a second opinion on potential surgery on his troublesome wrist.

He would be a huge loss to the Tigers, not only as captain but with his impact for the team that is chasing a finals berth and sits third on the A-grade ladder.

That doubt also flows on to the Whalers, who are preparing for the Country Cup final on December 15.
