STALKER 2 Pays Tribute to An Iconic Call Of Duty Mission With A Carefully Placed Sniper Rifle

GSC Game World understands that one of the most exciting parts about playing a video game is the hunt for easter eggs. So, the studio has added various unique easter eggs in its latest game, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl. Being a first-person shooter, the game pays tribute to an iconic mission from one of the best Call of Duty games of all time, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.

Since STALKER 2 takes place in Pripyat, Ukraine, the studio recreated the setting of the One Shot, One Kill mission from Modern Warfare in its game. In the original mission, which takes place in Pripyat, players assassinate Imran Zakhaev using a sniper.

STALKER 2 Pays Tribute To An Iconic Mission From Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

While exploring the open world of STALKER 2, a player on X discovered an interesting easter egg. A sniper was found in a tall building, which isn’t exciting to a normal person. However, any diehard Call of Duty fan will easily recognize that the setting is almost identical to the One Shot, One Kill mission from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.

Unfortunately, it’s not the same sniper that players use in the original mission. Just like STALKER 2, the original mission from Modern Warfare took place in Pripyat, Ukraine as Lt. Price and Cpt. MacMillan patiently wait on top of a building in order to assassinate Imran Zakhaev using a Barrett M82 .50cal sniper rifle. As John Price, players take a clean shot.

However, it is later discovered that Zakhaev somehow survived the fatal shot.

STALKER 2 Also Features A Harry Potter Easter Egg

At one particular location in STALKER 2, players can find a mysterious car stuck in a tree. If you look closely, the car is very similar to the light blue Ford Anglia 105E Deluxe from 2002’s Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. The car was enchanted by Arthur Weasley to fly as well as to become invisible.

The car getting stuck in a tree is a tribute to the iconic scene from the movie where Harry and Ron used the enchanted car to get to Hogwarts when the entrance to Platform 9¾ was sealed by Dobby. Just as they arrived on the school grounds, the car began to break down and they ended up crashing into the Whomping Willow, a magical tree.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl was initially planned to be released in 2012 but the project was delayed. Six years later, GSC Game World once again started its production and was all set to release on April 28, 2022. Unfortunately, the game was once again delayed due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Despite various setbacks, the game was finally released as a Microsoft exclusive on 20th November 2024.
