K-9 sniffs out 158 pounds of meth during traffic stop near Flagstaff

The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office seized about 158 pounds of methamphetamine from a vehicle that was stopped for a traffic violation.

On Nov. 25 just before 2:30 a.m., the department’s K-9 unit conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle near U.S. Highway 89 and Burris Lane, northeast of Flagstaff. During the stop, K-9 Dex was deployed to sniff the vehicle and alerted on the vehicle, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

During a search of the vehicle, deputies found and seized the drugs.

The driver was arrested and booked into the Coconino County Detention Facility on suspicion of transportation of dangerous drugs for sale.
