Next Battlefield Game Reportedly Overhauling a Critical Feature Proves DICE Is Only Using Cutting-Edge Tech to Beat Call of Duty

There’s no beating around the bush that Battlefield 2042 was a massive disaster for the entire franchise and ruined any reputation that previous games had built. Even though EA and DICE tried their best to fix the game, players still don’t want to go anywhere near the title.

Despite the negativity around the Battlefield franchise right now, the franchise is still one of the most important ones for EA. It’s been three years since 2042 hit the scene, and longtime fans are growing anxious as it’s confirmed that a new entry is in the works.

While we still don’t have a shred of an idea of what the next Battlefield could look like, it’s reportedly bringing back one feature that could revive the franchise.

Next Battlefield Game Will See Bring Overhauled Destruction Mechanics

Official news on the next Battlefield entry has begun to emerge, with EA recently stating that the title will be centered around a modern-day setting and feature a return of a 64-player map and some classes that players have missed in recent entries.

Recent reports from Insider Gaming have given the community more details about the title. It’s been suggested that the game will take place in the 2020s, and the campaign will unravel the story of a private military group’s battle against NATO forces. The game will take us across multiple locations.

However, what’s really interesting is that sources suggest DICE is planning for a complete overhaul of the next game’s destruction mechanics. This is an effort to bring back all the authentic “moments” that gamers had associated the franchise with.

The next Battlefield will introduce us to “caliber-based destruction.” It’s quite similar to what we’ve seen in Ubisoft’s Rainbow Six Siege, where different caliber weapons will deal different levels of destruction in the environment. The developers expect this feature to bring the most realistic and exciting destruction effects the gaming genre has ever seen.

It’s great to see that the development team is finally overhauling and bringing back the features that made the Battlefield franchise a force to be reckoned with in the golden days of gaming.

When is The Next Battlefield Game Coming Out?

With all this information relating to the next chapter in the shooter franchise, gamers can’t help but wonder when the title will hit the shelves.

Reports suggest that the next Battlefield will launch in October 2025. It’s crucial to take this release window with a grain of salt as if the game hits any development hurdles or any other issues, its release could be pushed back by months. We’ve already seen Xbox delayed Avowed‘s release despite the hype surrounding the game.

This release is for just the main Battlefield game. Reports have previously suggested that there’ll be “new experiences,” and that’s a Battle Royale game. This is said to be a free-to-play title that Ripple Effect Studios will develop and will tie directly with the next Battlefield title.

With that said, what would you like to see in the next Battlefield game? Let us know in the comments below.
