Sisters Who Vanished After Night Walk Near River Sent Eerie Final Text Before Disappearing: Police
Police in Scotland are continuing to search for 32-year-old siblings Eliza and Henrietta Huszti after they were last seen on CCTV near a river in Aberdeen, Scotland, in the early hours of Jan. 7
The sisters — who are reported to be part of a set of triplets — were also seen in the area at around 2:50 p.m. the day before they went missing, police have now shared
Officers also confirmed a text message was sent from Henrietta’s phone to their landlady at the exact same time they were last seen, indicating “they would not be returning” to their apartment
Two sisters who went missing two weeks ago in Scotland sent an eerie text at the exact same time they were last seen, according to police.
Police Scotland have issued an updated appeal as they continue the search for 32-year-old siblings Eliza and Henrietta Huszti — who the BBC reported are part of a set of triplets — after they were last seen on CCTV footage on Market Street at the Victoria Bridge near the River Dee in Aberdeen at around 2:12 a.m. local time on Jan. 7.
Officers have now confirmed that a text message was sent “from Henrietta’s mobile phone to their landlady at 2:12 a.m.” on the morning they disappeared, from an area near to where they were last seen. The message indicated “they would not be returning” to the apartment, police said in the release.
“The phone was then disconnected from the network and has not been active since,” police confirmed.
“The following day, the sisters’ personal belongings were found inside the flat and the landlady reported her concerns to police,” authorities added in the appeal.

Officers also stated that CCTV footage confirmed the sisters “made an earlier visit to the bridge where they were last seen,” as they were spotted in the location at around 2:50 p.m. on Jan. 6, per the appeal, which detailed that they were both wearing rucksacks.
“CCTV shows Eliza and Henrietta spent five minutes at the footpath and the Victoria Bridge but did not engage with anyone else,” officers said.

“Officers are now appealing for anyone who may have seen the sisters at this earlier time,” the appeal stated, adding, “After visiting the bridge, the sisters are then seen on CCTV making their way through the city center, via the Union Square shopping center, back to their flat in the Charlotte Street area of Aberdeen.”
“There is nothing to indicate that Eliza or Henrietta left their flat again until shortly before they were last seen at the River Dee in the early hours,” officers continued, per the appeal.

Police have been focusing the search on the River Dee so far, given that “there is nothing to suggest that Eliza or Henrietta left the immediate area” after they were seen on Jan. 7.
“Eliza and Henrietta are both described as white and of slim build with long, brown hair,” authorities said.
The missing sisters, from Hungary, are part of a set of triplets, with the other triplet being their sister Edit Huszti, according to the BBC.

Local superintendent David Howieson said of the search: “We have carried out a significant trawl of public and private CCTV footage as we try to establish the sisters’ movements,” per the release.
“Several hours of footage are being examined by a dedicated team of officers,” the officer confirmed.

“Although the sisters didn’t engage with anyone else at this time, the area would have been busy and we are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen them,” Howieson added of the sisters being seen on CCTV the day before they went missing.
“Extensive inquiries are ongoing and I would again stress there is nothing to suggest any suspicious circumstances or criminality,” he insisted.
Police Scotland did not immediately respond when contacted by PEOPLE for additional information.
