Sega has launched Sega Account, an online profile with in-game bonuses

Sega has launched a new online profile designed to used across its games going forwards.

Sega Account is described by the company as “an online profile that gives you access to a host of benefits when playing Sega and Atlus titles and using their online services”.

According to Sega, players who create a Sega Account will get access to “exclusive bonuses” and will be able to link their accounts over numerous platforms.

They will also receive news on the latest Sega and Atlus games, events and promotions.

To encourage players to sign up for a Sega Account, anyone who creates an account by March 7 will get an in-game bonus for Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii when it’s released on February 21.

By linking their Sega Account to a platform compatible with the game, they will receive a Kazuma Kiryu outfit DLC, allowing protagonist Goro Majima to dress as the initial main star of the Yakuza / Like a Dragon series.

At the moment, players can link their account to four platform accounts – Nintendo, PlayStation, Xbox and Steam – with Epic Games to follow.

Although only one game can currently be linked to a Sega Account (the Japanese version of Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis Version 2), given the Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii DLC offer it seems likely that it will be the next game to support it.

Sega says that in the future players will be able to  use their Sega Account to “look at your records for the games you’ve played”.
