New animated Spider-Man series renewed for Season 2 and 3
Disney wants more Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man despite the show not even out yet. The series is right around the corner, though.
Marvel Studios head of streaming, television, and animation Brad Winderbaum shared on The Movie Podcast (via IGN) that Season 2 already has its scripts complete and half of its animated storyboards finalized. Meanwhile, also noting that Season 3 is a go, too.
“I’ve fallen so head over heels in love with these characters and I’ve now read all of the scripts for Season 2; we’re halfway through the animatics,” Winderbaum said. “What [lead writer and executive producer Jeff Trammell] is building brick by brick in this show starts to pay off.
And you feel it in Season 1. You grow connected to these characters so that when everything starts to lock into place and pay off by the end of the season. I feel it in my very soul and it just gets deeper and deeper in subsequent seasons.”
While Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man does have a greenlight for Season 3, Winderbaum still needs to actually hear the pitch from Trammell and what the end-goals are. Meanwhile, he also remained tight-lipped about what we can expect in coming seasons.
The show itself follows Peter Parker as a freshman just getting his powers. It’s unclear what timeframe we’ll see in following seasons.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man hits Disney Plus on January 29.
