Out of control fire trigger leave now emergency warning for Esperance outskirts

An out of control blaze has sparked an emergency warning in parts of Esperance, with those in the area told to leave immediately.

Those in Bandy Creek and Castletown bounded by Daw Drive, Lyon Parade, Burton Road, Wiseman Street and Westmacott Street should take action now.

According to DFES, homes are under threat on Ormonde Street and those who are in the warning zone are in danger and need to act immediately to survive.

The fire is not controlled or contained and is moving west, there is a threat to both lives and homes.

If the way is clear residents are told to not wait and instead leave now.

People on the western side of the warning area should leave in an southerly direction towards Esperance via Goldfields Road while people on the northern side of the warning area should leave north or west towards Esperance via Fisheries Road.

The fire was first called in to 000 as a fire in bush land near the intersection of Daw Drive and Goldfields Road at just after 10am on Wednesday morning.

At least 10 fire crews were attending the blaze by 11am.
