Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 NPCs Can Catch You If You Don’t Bathe And Smell Bad
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is out now on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation, and it’s off to an enormous start. It’s also been discovered that the game has an odor system where NPCs can literally sniff you out in stealth sequences if you’re too stinky.
Clips of this have made their way across the internet following the game’s launch this week. Senior game designer Ondřej Bittner shared some insight on the mechanic in an interview with GamesRadar.
Bittner said, “Basically, if you get the debuff that, you know, your body odor, you smell, there’s like a circle around you. If this happens, you’re basically ‘broadcasting’ your presence due to your smell.
“Basically, you’re broadcasting, like, ‘I’m here.’ So yeah, we added that. It’s actually smelling. If he would just wash or go to the bathhouse, this wouldn’t happen.”
So there you have it. If you’re trying to be stealthy in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, be sure to bathe first. Or else you might find yourself in a situation similar to what you see below.
GameSpot’s Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 review scored the game an 9/10, while other outlets scored it highly as well. On GameSpot sister site Metacritic, the game has an aggregate rating of 88. The game reached nearly 160,000 peak concurrent players on Steam on launch day.
