Climb Knight is getting a major new update later this month, including extra minigames

  • AppSir’s quirky one-bit platformer Climb Knight is set to receive a major update
  • Coming February 25th it adds three new minigames and an advisor character
  • Although I doubt that everything is as it seems given AppSir’s spooky releases

If there’s anything you can say about mobile developer AppSir, it’s that whatever they put out is always worth a look. Whether that’s our glowing review for Spooky Pixel Hero or … their releases always tend to hit the right spot for distinct indie fun. And their latest release Climb Knight is no exception!

“But”, you may be about to say, “Didn’t you already cover Climb Knight?” Yes, we did and in fact, we gave it a fairly positive review to boot. But oddly enough it seems the folks at AppSir were genuinely surprised by the reception Climb Knight received. So, in celebration, they’ve announced a major new update coming February 25th completely free!

What’s on offer? How about three more one-bit minigames and a strange new advisor inspired by Apple Newton shareware? And knowing AppSir, I’ve no doubt there’s a lot more to this advisor and new gameplay than meets the eye.

Climbing up

I’d say that, whatever you could say about AppSir, they show that you can have a dedicated indie developer that breaks the mould to prove popular on mobile. While I wouldn’t go so far as to call them the New Blood of smartphones, they’ve definitely got some similarities to the excellent Faith trilogy in the spooky, retro aesthetic of their back catalogue.

You can take a look at what we thought of Spooky Pixel Hero but (spoilers) it’s another excellent release that’s well worth playing. And if you want to find out more about what the developer Darius had to say about the reception to Climb Knight, take a gander at his latest blog post.
