Now Nintendo is back with a boom with their new console, Nintendo Switch 2, which is set to release this year. However, scalpers pose a looming threat to their highly anticipated new console. So, let’s find out what measures Nintendo is taking to combat these resellers.

When the original Switch was launched back in March of 2017, scalpers were a huge problem for the company. Scalpers are individuals who buy highly sought-after products and resell them at much higher prices than retail with the intent of making a massive profit. These products include concert tickets, limited edition products, and sometimes even Elden Ring: Nightreign Network Test Codes.

Scalpers bought the original Switch console in bulk and inflated the prices to sell them at a higher price and with Nintendo not having enough stocks of the console, they failed to satisfy customer demands. But this time for the release of Switch 2, the company has come up with a solution ensuring a smooth launch for the console.

On February 4, Nintendo’s president, Shuntaro Furukawa told Nikkei (translated via VideoGamesChronicles) about how they have made preparations for the upcoming launch of the Switch 2, and have learned from their past experiences to prepare enough console inventory this time to meet demand.

“We will take all possible measures based on the experience we have accumulated to date. We are making preparations.”

According to an earlier report by Nikkei, the gaming company had planned to launch the Switch 2 in late 2024, but the company postponed the launch to ensure enough inventory and a line-up of games at the time. If everything goes well, sales analysts are expecting Switch 2 to sell more than 2-5 million units within the first three months.

With Switch 2 on the horizon, Nintendo is taking extreme steps to ensure that the launch of the new handheld console is smooth and without any hiccups, unlike its predecessor. They are also keeping track of scalpers who can disrupt the launch of Switch 2.

As for gamers, they are going absolutely wild for the Switch 2’s software reveal in April. Fans are growing more and more impatient for the handheld console after watching the first look trailer on YouTube.

While Nintendo is aiming to provide a smoother purchase experience for the fans, the gaming company is also committed to providing support for their previous handheld console, as long as the handheld device is in demand.
