After Resident Evil 9’s Rumored Delay, Fans Are Hoping That Capcom Finally Gives Fans Another Outbreak Game

The next entry in the Resident Evil series may not be the mainline game, if that is what the fans were hoping for. However, that doesn’t mean they would be deprived of games until its arrival. They are likely to get one; they just don’t know what. The fans have put forth their speculations on the internet, and it appears like they want a multiplayer experience.

Lately, fans have been speculating about the different aspects that Resident Evil 9 would include. Some leaks suggested that the game is going open-world this time. That may also explain the delay, as a potential transition from linear narrative wouldn’t be a walk in the park for developers.

A reliable Resident Evil source, dubbed DuskGolem, wrote a message in a Discord server which was shared on the image hosting service Imgur, highlighting the potential delay of the mainline game and the entry of another before that. “Another RE game may end up being announced and released first before RE9,” Dusk Golem writes.

It seems like fans aren’t worried about the delay at all. After throwing so many questions in one comment, one Reddit user dubbed Strict_Donut6228 said, “Either way. Take their time they have been doing great so far.”

The post had so many suggestions, so it’s really hard to say who’ll be hitting the speculation arrow precisely at the target. A couple of users were positive about a remake of 2000’s Code Veronica. One user, dubbed Nevek_Green believes it will be “the long rumored Rebecca game.”

Including RE9, Capcom is reportedly developing five games, according to the leaker, DuskGolem. While the mainline game seems inevitable, a Resident Evil 5 remake is almost guaranteed. The rest of the video games are still a mystery to fans.

Some fans have expressed their desire for the next game. A user dubbed Andy on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) writes, “CAPCOM, it’s time. Give us the multiplayer experience again that we’ve been craving so much.

He was talking about Outbreak 3. Outbreak: File #2, its sequel, was released 19 years ago and featured online multiplayer like its predecessor. All the servers were officially closed in March 2007, but some fans managed to pull them back online through a private server in Japan.

Apart from the video games, fans will get to see the upcoming documentary on the late George A. Romero, creator of the Night of the Living Dead series, who almost went on to direct the first Resident Evil film. If his pitch for the RE was to be accepted, we would be seeing entirely different versions of the movies from the franchise today.

What are your speculations about the upcoming RE titles? We would like to know your thoughts in the comments section below.
