Helldivers 2 Devs Response Will Further Infuriate Fans After Claiming Outrageous PS Move Was ‘Inevitable’

All hell has broken lose on Super-Earth ever since Sony announced how Helldivers 2 players on PC would need to connect a PlayStation Network Account if they wished to continue enjoying the game. Being implemented from May 6th, every new player that dares to join will be forced to connect the said account to their Steam client, making the game face a huge backlash from the community.

In times of need, fans of a game tend to look to the developers for help, but it would now be an awkward conversation with Arrowhead Studios, since one of the community managers, Twinbeard, has admitted that the decision was not even theirs to begin with.

Despite what many would expect of Arrowhead Studios, the decision to force PC players into connecting a PSN account was not theirs to begin with. It is, unfortunately, Sony, who holds the publishing right to Helldivers 2 and has decided to bring this change to effect, infuriating gamers across the globe.

As noted by Games Radar, the aforementioned community manager for the studio, Twinbeard, has remarked about the situation in the game’s official Discord server, saying “It’s Sony’s decision, not ours“, unveiling how Arrowhead Studios, the ones responsible for creating the game practically has no say over what happens to it and who gets to play it or not.

The studio’s spontaneous decision to impose such a requirement does not come without a cost. Not only are gamers on social media platforms showing their disappointment with the recent announcement, but have now begun to negatively review bomb the game, shredding the positive image that the game has struggled to maintain since its release to pieces.

Witnessing the massive backlash, there remains a slight chance that Sony might just start considering backtracking their footsteps and standing down for once. The exclusive release of Helldivers 2 has already been enough to fuel the ongoing console wars for the coming years, and forcing a PlayStation Network Account down the throats of players who want nothing to do with it brings to light which side should the gamers be on for once.

To make matters worse, there are only 69 countries in the whole world that have support for PSN to begin with, meaning that players emerging from nations such as Egypt and Belarus are going to be practically shut out from the game they have paid for. Complaints have also been arising from the regions of the UK and Ireland, as gamers from these nations are required to submit their Phone Number, ID, and a facial scan to set up an account in the first place.
