Nintendo plans on 13.5 million more Switch sales

Nintendo is eyeing a rather lofty, yet achievable goal, of 13.5 million more Switch sales before the end of the fiscal year. This comes as the company promises to reveal the Switch successor by March 31, 2025.

As revealed in its financial results (via GamingBolt), the Japanese console maker believes it could maintain strong sales ahead of the new console’s reveal, though, noted that would be “challenging” to maintain the same momentum as before people knew the new console was set to be announced.

It seems Nintendo’s goal is hoping user engagement will invigorate the platform and consumers will continue to play for longer.

“Nintendo Switch has entered its eighth year since launch, and while it will be challenging to sustain the same sales momentum as before, we will work to maintain high user engagement with the hardware and invigorate the platform so that more consumers continue to play Nintendo Switch for longer.”

If it hits its 13.5 million goal, this would bring it above the Nintendo 3DS sales, which capped at 154.02 million, and is logged as the second-best selling console of all-time, right behind the PS2 and its 160 million units sold.

We still have some time left, though, as it will be within this fiscal year before the console is revealed, meaning it could be as late as March 2025 before it’s even announced, though, we highly doubt that to be the case. It is possible that it could be out the door and in the hands of fans in Spring 2025.

In the meantime, we have a new Nintendo Direct sometime in June to look forward that will highlight the latter half of 2024’s Switch library.
