Ubisoft Toronto joins Sands of Time remake team

Ubisoft has tasked another studio with aiding in the development of the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake. Most any time the game was brought up in any official capacity, it was nothing a nothing-story or the development passing hands to another branch of Ubi.

In a statement from Ubisoft Toronto, it notes that the studio will be joining forces with Ubisoft Montreal to development the much-anticipated Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake. Nothing new about its development was directly shared at this time.

Unveiled in 2020, the Sands of Time remake was supposed to release in 2021, with a release date looking pretty set-in-stone as it began taking pre-orders. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case and its established January 2021 release wasn’t enough time, so it was moved to March 18, 2021. Weeks later, it would be delayed indefinitely.

This led to plenty of fans feeling uneasy if this game was even coming out at all, especially as we’ve heard very little about it other than that it’s in development, no gameplay, no new trailer, it’s just been the trust that it’s in development. This game has a cult following, so it would be disappointing if this early 2000s action platformer never makes it out.

Ubisoft has been very gung-ho about the series as a whole, though, with two different action roguelite Prince of Persia-branded games this year; the well-praised, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown and last month’s early access release, The Rogue Prince of Persia.
