Helldivers 2 Player’s Meticulous Research Reveals the Armor Most Fans Chose the Least Has Godlike Survival Rates on Bug Planets

Helldivers 2 features many armors that players can choose from but the armors can be mainly classified into three categories: Light, Medium, and Heavy. A player on the Helldivers 2 subreddit revealed that he performed an experiment for one month on Terminid-infested planets to understand what kind of armor Helldivers prefer and what kind of Stratagems they combine it with.

This player’s experiment concluded that most players prefer to use Light armor but it seems like the best option on the battlefield is the Heavy armor only if you combine it with the correct Stratagems. This seems obvious due to the difference in the armor ratings but the Heavy has a high survival rate, however, it takes more time to complete the mission as it reduces Speed and Stamina Regen.

Helldivers 2 player’s research concludes that many players like to use the Light armor

Reddit user Routine_Rip_4688 revealed in a post on the r/Helldivers2 subreddit that they conducted an experiment with random Helldivers 2 players on Terminid planets for one month to understand what kind of armors players prefer. After 304 missions, the player concluded that 70% of the players used light armor, 25% used medium and 5% used heavy armor and as for their loadouts, almost 60% of Light armor users used standardized meta loadouts. Medium users had only a 40% meta build and heavy users had 0% meta usage. Instead, 75% of the Heavy armor users had three turrets with some sort of anti-tank for support.

The player explained that the Heavy armor users throw the occasional turret far away from their location to divert enemies in a different direction. This creates some space for them and their teammates. This may be a good strategy but players need to remember that Heavy armors have less Speed and Stamina Regen compared to Light and Medium, so it often gets difficult to get away from hordes of enemies. To tackle this situation, Heavy armor users can also equip a jump-pack.

The Heavy armor has the highest survival rate

The player also revealed that Heavy armor users died less than Light and Medium armor users. Heavy users on average died 1.2 times per mission, Medium on average died 3.4 times per mission while Light users on average died 4.2 times. This proves that Heavy armor, when combined with the right Stratagems, can significantly help on the battlefield, however, the player also noted that it takes more time to finish the mission.

The best strategy is to keep a balance in the team, the Light/Medium armor users can rush onto sites while Heavy armor users can divert the enemies from a distance. The same goes for Stratagems as they undoubtedly play a key role in determining the outcome of the battle.
