Shadow of the Erdtree Lacks a Critical Feature That Needs to be in Bloodborne 2, Armored Core 7
Hidetaka Miyazaki is the man you turn to whenever you are up for taking a challenge. Not only do his games like Elden Ring and Bloodborne feature an unbearable amount of difficulty, but there seems to be no active learning curve to these titles, as the level design just gets harder as the player goes on.
Complaining about the said levels of difficulty, players over the years have demanded the studio to do the least possible for gamers to learn their way around the titles they make, which will be to create video, or text guides that the player can rely on.
Hidetaka Miyazaki started his career under FromSoftware with the release of Armored Core: The Last Raven back in 2005. The director, since then has gained renowned fame, even becoming the president of the very same studio in 2014. However, one thing that has lacked from his games since then is the inclusion of guides that can help players around certain mind-bend puzzles or rage-inducing bosses.
Stating how it’s gonna be the same time as Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, the director in an interview via IGN said the following
We obviously understand, but we don’t make or plan anything with that as a prerequisite. If anything, we try to cater to the player who is completely blind and wants to go through organically. If they can’t do it, then there’s some room for improvement on our behalf, and we’d like to try to embrace those players more in the future.
Miyazaki, who in the past has apologized to those who feel overwhelmed by his games, mentioned how he has chosen to embrace and fulfill the needs of a player who wishes to go through an experience blind and organically. He additionally mentions how in the future they would like to serve players that are left out because of the difficulty as well.
The Armored Core franchise has always managed to stand out from the rest of the development done by FromSoftware. Being an Action Mecha-Fighting game in contrast to deep and dark intertwined storylines has its own benefits, and one of them was featured in the studio’s release of Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon.
While not exactly a player guide, the said game includes several in-game tutorials as well as an introduction to mechanics not seen before in the series. Fans now hope that the studio will choose to improve on the said element of player-friendliness, and will potentially introduce guides for gamers to follow when they finally decide to go ahead with much-demanded titles such as Bloodborne 2 and Armored Core 7.
Elden Ring is available to purchase on Steam.
