GAME will continue selling physical games in-store

Brick and mortar game seller, GAME, has addressed rumors of another major shakeup to its business mode, calling the rumor “categorically not true.” This comes after the retailer announced plans to close its rewards program.

In a Gfinity report, it alleged that the UK-based chain planned to stop selling games in-store outside of a pre-order basis. Not long after, though, Eurogamer picked it up, reaching out and getting a response to the allegation. GAME’s statement, though, left a little to be desired as it didn’t completely dismiss the idea that pre-orders would be a requirement.

“This reporting is categorically not true. GAME continues to support the physical gaming market, offering a wide-range of physical games, hardware, software, accessories and digital gift cards, in stores and online.”

A Frasers Group — GAME’s parent company — spokesperson clarified that there won’t be any changes to the company’s game sale policy. The change wouldn’t be too shocking, as it’s clear the parent company is attempting to make GAME a lot more uniform with its other brands.
