Elon Musk’s 1st Neuralink Patient Tells Joe Rogan Exactly What It’s Like

Elon Musk’s Neuralink is doing wonders. This is a brain-computer interface neuroprosthetics company that has developed implantable brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) that can directly control the human brain via a chip.

Despite the company being highly secretive about its work, the first Neuralink patient has recently been unveiled to the public, whose name is Noland Arbaugh. He is the first volunteer of the company on whom the BCI is implanted. This man went on to share how this ultra-futuristic chip is going to change the world of gaming.

In the latest episode of the Joe Rogan Experience, Arbaugh shed some light on his experience of being the first person to be impacted by the BCI. He explained the efficiency of BCI in gaming and its ultra-first reflex, which could change the way people game if it is widely implanted.

He stated that the aim detection of the chip is faster than our imagination with supernatural accuracy and precision. This chip might one day require the setting up of separate leagues for competitive games, as per Arbaugh.

According to him, this chip is “like aimbot for gaming” inbuilt in his head. This is what Arbaugh said about the BCI:

Sometimes it’s so good it’ll move before I even think about it. With video games, you just need to think for it to move somewhere.

Noland Arbaugh’s story of becoming the first patient of Neuralink embarks upon his disastrous accident in 2016 when he dislocated his C4 and C5 vertebrae, which made him permanently paralyzed.

BCI Is Extraordinary, but Will It Stand out Amongst Games Like Call of Duty or Valorant?

In that podcast episode, Arbaugh explained that it might be tough for players to get a knack for the BCI, as sometimes it’s faster than human thoughts. So as far as gaming is concerned, players will find it very difficult to keep up with the pace of the chip.

As of now, Arbaugh has shown the potential of the chip when he played a virtual game of chess. This video shows how powerfully the chip translates his brain activity into actionable computer inputs.

Now, the question that arises in everyone’s mind is how efficient this chip is going to be in fast-paced games like Call of Duty, Valorant, Counter-Strike, Fortnite, and many more, where neat reflexes and precision are the keys to success. Arbaugh has spent hours on Civilization IV using the chip, but it hasn’t been put to the test in fast-paced shooters yet.

However, Musk has confirmed that Arbaugh will be receiving the second implant pretty soon, and according to Musk, this new chip will allow Arbaugh’s other brain hemisphere to interact telepathically with PC.
