ADCA 2024-25: Denmark smash undermanned Collingwood Park, Wayne Harrington hits first ton of the season

Denmark launched an almighty assault on an undermanned Collingwood Park to run out 143-run winners in their Albany and Districts Cricket Association B-grade opener on Saturday.

Veteran Peter Ross (81 runs) and big hitter Matt Burton (79) hammered 142 runs for the opening stand at Turf South before Campbell Robertson provided some late-innings fireworks with an unbeaten 60 from 38 balls.

The Magpies finished on 5-277 from their 45 overs.

In reply, Park were rolled for just 134 runs in the 31st over, Jake Schwarzbach snaring 3-20 from five overs.

Will Elms (20 runs) and Michael Martain (21 not out) were the key run-scorers for Park.

Royals notched an impressive 84-run win over Railways at Tigerland, spearheaded by a scintillating innings from Lions opener Tyler Crommelin who belted 80 runs, including 12 fours and four sixes.

Jarrad Dawson chipped in with a quickfire 46 runs in the Lions’ total of 8-279 and Tigers’ Angus Clarke-Smith led his side with the ball taking 3-36.

The Tigers batted out their overs to make 7-195 with Aaron Robinson scoring a team-high 43.

Narrikup secured a five-wicket victory over Mt Barker at Sounness Park with a well-calculated run-chase and an exciting innings from captain Jarrad Norton.

After skittling the Bulls for 168, Norton bashed an unbeaten 43 from 29 balls to help his side to the required total in just the 39th over.

In the C-grade experienced Royals campaigner Wayne Harrington scored the first ton of the season, amassing a superb 115 not-out to guide his side to a competitive first innings total of 6-192.

Despite Harrington’s heroics, the Tigers ran down the target at Collingwood Park in the second last over of the match courtesy of crucial knocks from Jordan Draper (86 runs) and Ben Collins (51 not out).

Denmark defeated reigning C-grade premiers Collingwood Park at McLean Park by six wickets.

Damian Schwarzbach (55 runs retired) and Ben Atwell (58) each scored half-centuries in the win, while Park’s Steve Teague scored 62 at the top of the order.

The newly formed Albany Sharks experienced a tough introduction to the ADCA with a 197-run loss to Manypeaks at Hard North.

Travis Golding scored 46 not out in Peaks’ first innings total of 6-241, before Josh Wallis and Riley Wood each took three wickets as the Sharks were rolled for 44.

Sharks’ Shaun Roddy top-scored with 16 and despite the rough result, there was still plenty of energy and enjoyment coming from their camp throughout.
