Another ‘Internal Discussion’ for Arrowhead as They React to Predictable Community Outrage Over Nerfs
Once again, the Helldivers 2 community is frustrated with Arrowhead Game Studios’ work in the latest major update, which seems to have nerfed several popular weapons. Players are more than angry with the studio for the generic message they released, claiming they’ve listened to fan feedback.
Clearly, they have not listened to fan feedback, as evidenced by the flamethrower’s near-zero damage since the last update. This kind of nerfing happens all the time in live service games, but this time it seems to have gone too far, according to players.
The Helldivers 2 “Freedom’s Flame” Controversy Continues
Despite being one of the most popular games of the year and achieving significant sales, surpassing 12 million units, this live service game has shown to have one of the most demanding communities in recent years.
Due to the latest Helldivers 2 update, a new controversy has arisen concerning weapons and the massive nerf they received, which has practically made them useless for missions.
The game’s community is sick of the studio’s excuses and their constant use of the same generic messages to communicate with fans.
Apparently, a message in the official Discord community escalated players’ frustration, as it failed to provide any clarity and did not contribute to resolving the conflict. This update was touted as one of the game’s biggest since its launch, but it has ended up disappointing many players.
This Update Proved to Do More Harm Than Expected
The flamethrower, one of the most popular weapons for planets filled with Terminids, was essential for players who wanted to take out several bugs at once.
However, the studio’s adjustments have rendered it nearly damage-free. Players want the studio to return it to its original state instead of listening to their generic excuses.
This Helldivers 2 patch, called Escalation of Freedom, added all kinds of content—new types of missions, new enemies, new planets, and even new biomes to explore.
This update is completely free and was intended as a response to fan suggestions to add new mechanics to the game. Another notable addition was the inclusion of a new difficulty level for hardcore players.
Additionally, the studio stated that the team is discussing and analyzing how to improve these features to satisfy the community.
In the meantime, players are relishing the new Warbond, which made its official debut yesterday. All weapons in this content are fire-based, which makes fan criticism harsher.
What do you think of the studio’s words? Let us know in the comments!
