Apex Legends ‘Shockwave’ Gameplay Trailer Teases New Map & More
In a new trailer today, Respawn teased the new E-District map coming to Apex Legends in “Shockwave” ahead of its release on August 6, 2024.
The official EA site explains the new E-District map is “built for verticality,” and describes it as a “densely packed urban oasis.” Respawn will reveal a full overview of E-District tomorrow on August 2, 2024.
Today’s trailer also teases Trios Revival, which introduces another way for teammates to respawn without banners and beacons. Instead, players will automatically respawn based on a timer, which changes according to gameplay. Each death increases the timer, but teammates can speed it up by dealing damage.
The new season will also introduce Akimbo, allowing players to dual-wield either two P2020s or two Mozambiques.
Apex Legends recently faced intense fan backlash over its Battle Pass overhaul, which removed the option to use in-game currency. Players quickly review-bombed the game, drawing concern for the eSports World Cup event.
However, Respawn eventually reversed its decision, admitting that “we could have handled the Battle Pass changes better — that’s on us.”
This may help renew some interest in the game, and today’s trailer does emphasize revivals and new energy. However, many fans still took the Shockwave trailer as an opportunity to joke about pricing.
