Astro Bot: Boxel Bust-Up Collectible Locations

Astro Bot continues to deliver players a wonderful 3D platformer experience, exclusively on the PlayStation 5. Moving onto the second world, the Tentacle System, there’s a Lost Galaxy portal to find in Downsize Surprise. Enter the portal to unlock Boxel Bust-Up, featuring five bots and two jigsaw pieces.

If you’re having trouble finding the Boxel Bust-Up collectible locations, this guide will help you.

Tip: the level is very open in terms of space. Move the camera around when jumping on a new platform to see if there’s a hidden section tucked away off-screen. In addition, you can always pay 200 coins to the bird to have it alert you when collectibles are nearby after finishing the level once.

How To Unlock Boxel Bust-Up in Astro Bot?

The first step to finding all the Boxel Bust-Up collectibles is unlocking the level first. It’s towards the second half of Downsize Surprise.

After climbing the first tree to land on the metal tower, the left side will have breakable glass that will open up a fan. Destroy the glass with Astro’s hover and turn small to be lifted up.

Walk up to the green frog and blow into the DualSense controller’s microphone. The frog will now blow bubbles for the tiny Astro Bot to jump on.

If you haven’t already, jump into the cage and turn big to unlock the bot for this level. If you did this already, look to jump on the tree’s branch after taking the bubble up.

Once on the branch, walk down to the base of the tree and platform to the other branch to unlock Boxel Bust-Up’s portal. You will now be taken back to the Space Map.

Bot #1: The First of the Boxel Bust-Up Collectibles

After flying into the level, there will be a small island on the left with a bot and a green enemy. Defeat the enemy and claim the first bot in this Lost Galaxy level.

Bot #2

Continue towards the second checkpoint. The next checkpoint is close, but adventure off towards the right before claiming it. On the platform’s right side, there are some wires Astro can pull. Yanking them will reveal a runway up the wall.

Above the runway will be two enemies and a floating purple head. Clear the enemies and spin attack the head. That is indeed the second bot and a throwback to Polygon Man, the original PlayStation mascot from 1995 that was scrapped.

Jigsaw Piece #1

Shortly ahead of the third checkpoint, the glass platforms will have one that’s moving with the jigsaw piece sitting on it.

Be careful hover jumping over the glass platforms because the platforms will disintegrate. Try to jump normally or land next to the broken glass area. Be aware of the green enemy’s projectile as well.

Bot #3

The next bot appears stranded on an island on top of a tree. To free them, break the tree in the middle of your platform that’s surrounded by a bunch of coins. The broken tree will reveal wires that Astro can pull.

Pulling on the wires will equip Astro with a dynamite stick. Throw it at the tree once an arrow appears next to it. The third bot will land on your platform to be claimed.

The bot is a reference to I.Q.: Intelligent Qube, a PS1 puzzle game that PlayStation published.

Bot #4

After claiming the dog backpack, don’t jet forward towards the bumper. Instead, go towards the right, and orange enemies will spawn. Then, zoom across the platforms and stand on the last platform’s green square.

Once the wall drops, take the blue trampoline up and claim the fourth bot in Boxel Bust-Up. An obscure reference to Vib-Ribbon, a rhythm game from the same company behind PaRappa the Rapper

Jigsaw Piece #2

Before taking the dog bumper, break the weirdly placed glass window on the left side by dashing into it. Pull on the wires inside to reveal the second and final jigsaw piece on Boxel Bust-Up.

The fifth bot is very hard to miss. After defeating the horde of enemies and surviving the falling platform, the final robot will appear in front of the victory pad.
