Astro Bot trailer gets 99% likes on YouTube, Concord gets 18%

PlayStation‘s trailers for Astro Bot and Concord have received vastly different reactions from viewers.

Both games were shown during Sony‘s State of Play presentation on Thursday, with Concord opening the show and Astro Bot closing it, but the response to each has differed greatly.

The Astro Bot trailer has been almost universally praised, receiving 99% likes on YouTube at the time of writing (23,405 likes versus just 245 dislikes).

However, the Concord gameplay trailer has received an overwhelmingly negative response, with only 18% likes on YouTube at the time of writing (2,735 likes versus 12,070 dislikes).

Concord’s cinematic trailer fared slightly better, but is still currently very much negative with 23% likes.

Announced on Thursday, Astro Bot is a fully-fledged 3D platformer based on the Astro’s Playroom tech demo installed on every PS5 console.

Astro’s Playroom has been widely praised by most for its charming presentation, and the way it arguably makes the best use of the DualSense controller to date.

The new game, simply titled Astro Bot, will consist of over 80 levels spread across six galaxies, so players will doubtless be hoping it will take what Astro’s Playroom did and replicate it on a grander scale.

Concord, meanwhile, was announced last year, but no gameplay footage was shown at the time.

The game was showcased on Thursday, with a five-minute cinematic trailer introducing players to some of its characters, followed by a gameplay trailer.

Many of the comments under the gameplay trailer appear to be complaining that, as a 5v5 team shooter similar to Overwatch and Valorant, the footage didn’t appear to show much that other games aren’t already doing.

Others noted that the cinematic trailer gave the impression that Concord was going to be a single-player sci-fi adventure similar to the Guardians of the Galaxy game, and that they were then disappointed to find out it was a team-based shooter.
