AUKUS subs ‘should be banned from carrying nuclear weapons’ into WA, inquiry told

WA conservationists and anti-nuclear campaigners want Australia’s AUKUS partners blocked from bringing nuclear weapons or radioactive waste into the State.

A parliamentary inquiry into a draft safety framework for the proposed nuclear-powered submarines earmarked for WA heard in Henderson on Thursday that the vessels posed an unacceptable safety and environmental threat to local communities.
