Australia make five changes for third ODI clash
Under-fire Australia have lost the toss and been sent in to bat in their series-deciding ODI clash with Pakistan at Perth’s Optus Stadium.
Australia have made five changes from the team that copped a nine-wicket hammering at Adelaide Oval on Friday, with Test stars Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood all rested.
Into the side come allrounders Marcus Stoinis and Cooper Connolly, as well as pace trio Sean Abbott, Lance Morris and Spencer Johnson.
Josh Inglis, who has been included in the Test squad for the five-match series against India, will captain the side for the first time.
Pakistan have gone in unchanged.
Australia’s under-par batting this series has come under heavy fire.
The defending World Cup champions only just chased down Pakistan’s 203 in game one at the MCG.
And Australia were humiliated in Adelaide on Friday, bowled out for 163 in 35 overs before Pakistan reached the victory target with 141 balls to spare.
Australia coach Andrew McDonald says his team will continue with their attacking mindset, saying it has served them well in the past.
