Avowed Boss is Not Scared of Release Date Clashing With Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Civilization 7, Monster Hunter Wilds

Avowed’s boss has expressed opinions on the matter of releasing the game with some of the biggest releases next year in February. There is never a best time to release a game; if the game is good, it is bound to shine through sooner or later.

Carrie Patel, the director of Avowed, is calm about the fact that her game will clash with some of the giants of the industry. She does not seem to see this as a threat since she thinks that you will never find a window that lacks competition from other games.

There is always going to be one game or the other that will clash. This outlook towards it has helped her stand her ground about the decision to release the game next year in February. She said:

I don’t think you’re ever going to find a window where absolutely nothing is coming out and you’re going to be the only one out for a month. But we’re very confident that Avowed is going to stand on its own.

She further stressed the point, which distinguishes Avowed from some of the other role-playing games on the market currently. Despite being compared to Skyrim, Patel is confident that her game stands out.

I’m very excited about a lot of those games coming out personally, and I think that we’re also a very distinct experience from them. And so players who want an Obsidian-style RPG, with our approach to choice and consequence and our very nuanced take on narrative, are going to find exactly what they’re looking for with Avowed. And the time that we’ve gotten in extending to February has just given us more time as a team to fix bugs and do those final tuning passes.

The speed of new games rolling out in the market has increased drastically; every month or two players are offered fresh and exciting titles, aiming directly for their wallets.

Patel seems to be taking everything that has been going on around Avowed positively. She is someone who believes in making the most of what is currently in front of you rather than pondering what could have been.

This attitude has helped her stay calm during her career, working as a director. A director has huge responsibilities on their shoulders to make the game work.

Under the circumstances and the immense pressure she might be facing from the studio, she is holding her ground and seems to be doing pretty well. What do you think about it? Let us know in the comments below.
