Baldur’s Gate 3 Studio Mirrors Rockstar As Their New Game’s Release Date Remains Skeptical

Larian Studios has opted for a route much like Rockstar in keeping the release date of their games a mystery till the very end. Following the success of Baldur’s Gate 3, fans have been wanting to see more from Larian Studios, but the studio has been decisive in giving any definitive answer regarding the same.

During an acceptance speech at an awards ceremony in Malaysia recently, Swen Vincke told fans that they can expect the next game to be released in 2028 or 2029. However, he later dismissed the same claims made by him in a recent interview, jokingly.

The Release Date of the Game Following Baldur’s Gate 3 Is Still a Mystery

Vincke jokingly dismissed the claims made by him during the SEGA Game Awards 2024, where the company received a Special Recognition Award that the next game would be released in 2028 or 2029. In a recent interview with IGN, he was asked about the same, and he denied that the claims made by him were definitive.

Larian Studios’ latest game, Baldur’s Gate 3, was a massive hit and received a lot of awards, including Game of the Year, last year. There are a lot of expectations from the next game by the studio; it needs to top Baldur’s Gate 3‘s success.

In a recent interview with IGN, Vincke was seen talking about his plans. He said:

I knew you’d pick up on that. It was just a joke. I don’t know; we’ll release it when it’s ready. They’re big games, and it takes time, so don’t hold us to a date.

Larian Studios has a very efficient way of working. The studio came up with a concept known as following the sun, which enabled a seedy development of its games. Larian established many studios around the world, including Kuala Lumpur, Barcelona, Dublin, Guildford, Quebec, Warsaw, and Ghent. 

Larian Studios Is Working On Multiple Games

Vincke did not go into details about the next projects that the studio is currently working on. However, Larian had previously announced that it is working on multiple games, which will include a brand new title independent from the Baldur’s Gate and Divinity franchise.

No further details about these games were shared by him during the Sega Game Awards, but he sure did reiterate the fact that it would be very stressful to follow Baldur’s Gate 3’s success.

Fans are desperately waiting for more updates on the next game by Larian. There have not been any official announcements from the studio as of now regarding the next games.
