Barbie Project Friendship Is The Franchise’s First Console Game In Almost 10 Years

Just over a year after the Barbie film hit theaters, the pink girlie girl is getting a brand-new video game on consoles and PC. In Barbie Project Friendship, you play as both Barbie “Malibu” Roberts and Barbie “Brooklyn” Roberts as they try to save the run-down Malibu Waves Community Center. You can play the entire game solo or with a friend in local co-op.

In Project Friendship, you’ll remodel and explore the community center: cleaning out storage, fixing lights, decorating the space, and more. As you play, you’ll unlock outfits and furniture to customize your look. There are also a variety of minigames, including an Overcooked-inspired restaurant rush, bike and scooter repair, tennis, skateboarding, playing guitar, and making ice cream with Ken.

The game is set in the world of the television shows Barbie Dreamhouse Adventures and Barbie A Touch of Magic, and features their original English voice cast. Several characters from those shows, like Teresa Rivera and Nikki Watkins, make appearances. The head writer of those shows, Ann Austen, lended her support to the project.

Barbie Project Friendship releases on October 25. It will be available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, and Nintendo Switch. It is the first Barbie game on consoles and PC since Barbie & Her Sisters: Puppy Rescue back in 2015.
