Belfast anti-immigration protest: Fourcharged after disorder
Four men have been charged by police investigating violence and disorder following an anti-immigration protest in Belfast on Saturday.
Several businesses were attacked and some were set on fire after the demonstration moved from Belfast City Hall to surrounding streets.
Three police officers were injured and four members of the public reported that they had been assaulted.
The four men who have been charged with difference offences are aged 53, 46, 38 and 34.
The 53-year-old has been charged with assaulting police, resisting police and disorderly behaviour.
The 46-year-old man has also been charged with resisting police and disorderly behaviour.
The 38-year-old man has been charged with possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence, possession of fireworks without a licence, riotous behaviour and disorderly behaviour.
The 34-year-old man has been charged with taking part in an un-notified public procession.
They are all due to appear before Belfast Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
