Benton police investigating fight at Saline County Republican Party meeting

BENTON, Ark. – Benton police are investigating after an altercation at a Saline County Republican Party meeting on Thursday night.

A video taken during the meeting shows a disagreement between two women in a Q&A line during the meeting that continues as one of the women leaves the line, leading a man to meet her on one side of the meeting room.

A larger man turns around to follow the second woman as the disagreement continues. He then meets the first man on the other side of the room and an altercation starts between the two, leading to the first man punching the larger man in the face.

The larger man can then be seen falling to the ground as multiple meeting attendees move to break up the fight.

Police said the meeting disbanded peacefully after the altercation.

Benton Police Department officials said they are gathering video and witness statements before issuing any citations.
