Best party compositions in Dragon’s Dogma 2

When it comes to party compositions and the best Pawns to have in your team in Dragon’s Dogma 2, what would be the best? There are a lot of choices you can make when hiring Pawns and switching your Vocations, so here are the best team comps.

It’s hard to go wrong with certain party compositions in Dragon’s Dogma 2, but the best are typically a balance of a spellcaster (Mage/Sorcerer) and frontline tank (Fighter/Warrior), alongside other unique Vocations. Since you can have four Vocations in one party there are many variations, here are some party compositions you should try out.

  • Balanced party: Mage, Fighter, Thief, Archer.
  • Magick party: Sorcerer, Mage, Mystic Spearhand, Fighter
  • Offensive party: Fighter, Warrior, Thief, Mage
  • Defensive/ranged party: Magick Archer, Archer, Mage, Fighter

For an early-game balanced party, I went with Mage (my Arisen), Fighter (my main Pawn), as well as the Thief and Archer for hired Pawns. This gave me a good balance of magick and physical attacks. I’d heal with my Mage, my well-rounded Fighter Pawn would push attacks alongside the quick Thief, and the Archer could help my Mage deal long-ranged attacks.

If you want a more magick-based party I’d choose to have your Arisen as the Mystic Spearhand (not available to Pawns), then your main and hired Pawns as Sorcerer, Mage, and Fighter. The Fighter is the main tank that doesn’t deal magick damage while being supported by the Sorcerer and Mage duo. They’re great for performing a spell sync attack together. As a Mystic Spearhand, you can deal both magick and physical damage to your target.

For a more offensive physical damage party, go for Fighter, Warrior, Thief, and Mage. It doesn’t matter which is the Arisen and which are the Pawns, but this allows for the Mage to provide heals and buffs for the physical damage dealers. But preferably your Arisen should be one of the physical damage dealers since having a Mage Pawn is still incredibly useful.

Finally, if you want a more defensive or ranged-attacking party, try your Arisen as a Magick Archer, then your three Pawns as Archer, Mage, and Fighter. The Fighter can be the odd one out to make sure someone’s tanking hits. Then the Magick Archer and Archer can shoot arrows from afar while the Mage can continue to provide heals and magick attacks.
