Bilibili and FunPlus Are The First Teams Eliminated From Valorant Champs
Until August 25, Valorant Champs 2024 unravels in Seoul, and today, the first two elimination matches were played out. In a couple of sweeps, both Bilibili and FunPlus Phoenix were eliminated from the running, marking a crushing end to the tournament for these two Chinese organisations.
With just two qualification spots up for grabs in each of the four groups in this stage, it’s a cutthroat competition at present.
Everything to Play For
Both FunPlus and Bilibili failed to win a match and have been kicked from the competition, and they’re set to be closely followed by two more teams in the coming days. Tomorrow, we’ll see Talon square off against Vitality, and FUT attempt to take down the bottom-of-the-group side of Paper Rex for a spot in their respective decider series.
Sentinels lit up against FunPlus Phoenix, coming alive and playing phenomenally well to secure dominating scorelines of 13 – 8 on Bind and 13 – 5 on Lotus. Popping off mid-series, Tyson ‘TenZ’ Ngo, one of the most prolific Valorant players in the business, landed a whopping 33 kills in the latter match – but the gem of the match was zekken, with a staggering 39 kills.
Elsewhere, we saw Trace pull off the win of a lifetime, laying the smackdown against Leviatán in an unpredictable finish that left fans gobsmacked. It was the first time these two teams had clashed, and per the audience’s sentiments, Trace was not expected to land the win.
With a $2.25 million prize pool on the line, there’s so much for these teams to play for. Fortunately for Valorant fans worldwide, there’s lots left in the Valorant Champs tank.
